Catholic Residential Services is a dynamic agency that is constantly striving to improve to meet the needs of those we support. Working as a team, the individual, the family, Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services, and Catholic Residential Services develop and deliver a personalized plan which ensures and enhances:

-          Health, safety, personal care, and other daily living needs

-          Money, benefits, and resource management

-          Social and recreational interests

-          Personal and spiritual interests

Activities

We think that everyone needs a broad social base. We enable our clients to try lots of activities so that they can decide for themselves what they enjoy doing. We encourage our clients to become involved in programs specifically for people with disabilities such as Starfire or Special Olympics as well as participating actively in their larger community. This includes going to Reds Games, basketball games at local high schools, attending Broadway and Cincinnati Ballet productions, and visiting Cincinnati icons like the zoo or aquarium.

Our goal is to make their disabilities a consideration, not a hindrance to their participation in events. To guarantee this we have created several programs by collaborating with other organizations. By partnering with the Carl H. Lindner YMCA we created Adaptive Water Fitness and Adaptive Jazzercise to address the specific fitness needs and abilities of the people we serve. We also partner with a local music instructor to create a choir where our clients sing well known tunes and play instruments.

Vacations
Catholic Residential Services endeavors to provide those we serve with the opportunity to go on a vacation. We take the time to talk to those we support and find out what their interests are so that we can ensure each person receives a vacation tailored to his or her wants and needs. We take care of all of the planning and provide all of the staff. We feel that everyone needs something special to look forward to.

We are capable of providing vacations to many destinations. On one of our larger vacations we took nine ladies to Orlando, FL to visit Disney World. We flew down, stayed at a beautiful vacation home that had roll-in showers for the two ladies in wheelchairs, and even spent a morning swimming in our private pool. While we were there we watched the parades at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, met Mickey at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, marveled at the antics of dolphins at SeaWorld, and rode rides at Busch Gardens.

For one group a large vacation to a far-away destination was not a good fit. So we took three of our clients to Indianapolis, IN for a long weekend away. We stayed in a hotel, visited the casino, went to a Native American Festival, and watched High School Musical on-stage at a dinner theater. We even celebrated a birthday while we were there and went shopping at their malls. It provided just the break that they needed without being too overwhelming. Vacations
